capsule Wardrobe Blog – Is a Minimalist Wardrobe For You?
It’s been more than a year since I did an official capsule wardrobe blog and wrote about it. In fall of 2015 I did a few more rounds (check out all capsule wardrobe blog articles here, including how to assemble your own capsule wardrobe) and found so much more to learn that I had to give it a second try and see if the information I’d garnered could apply to my lifestyle. I’m in my mid-thirties, which puts me in the “younger” age category when it comes to wearing suits. I was looking for ways to stay stylish but also dress well without being too “girly” – kind of like a young woman. The capsule wardrobe blog informed me that a solid color shirt with a tie is one of the most timeless looks for the spring and summer months, as well as an appropriate jacket and shoes.
I know a lot of younger ladies (and guys, but mostly ladies) are interested in what my experience has been when it comes to wearing these items. One of the things I’ve noticed is that the older women who wore them years ago don’t really wear them anymore. They might still have them in their wardrobes but they’ve outgrown the style so much that they just wear it casually. It could be because it was just too warm for them in those colder months or maybe it was just time for a new look. But I can tell you that my wardrobe needs to include at least one solid colored cardigan and at least one pair of jeans (just a pair of dark denims and maybe a pair of heels or boots depending on the weather).
And please, ladies, be aware that you don’t have to have a traditional, conservative wardrobe if you don’t want to! You can get clear tops, which is what I usually recommend when people ask me what I consider to be the most important element to their wardrobe. Tops with lots of movement are always a great way to get clear style and it’s also very functional. If you’re not into too much bling, go with a simple leather or denim jacket with a touch of color or subtle patterns that will compliment your other accessories.
